Map Style Update!
The map style we have used for more than a decade has been updated to accommodate the changes in newer GPS models. The problem we face is the decluttering of the GPS map screen which results in minor roads and tracks being very feint. Since our focus is to specifically highlight remote areas we felt the need to adapt the map style for these to show on the devices with more definition. The unintended result is that the map style on Basecamp is compromised. The lines on Basecamp will show a lot thicker than before and some users may not want to use this for planning purposes. We have therefore created an installer that will allow users to still load the old map style for use on Basecamp and their GPS should they wish to do so. The default map will use our new style. You will notice a decrease in our campsite listings. This is the result of a data cleanup - older listings that could not be confirmed were removed from the map.
Our research focus has shifted to the Northern Cape around Richtersveld and the Namakwa Eco Trail in South Africa. We will produce a highly detailed paper map of this region and as a result we have sent a research team to do on-the-ground research. Expect many updates in relation to points of interest and road
conditions together with access. T4A GPS Maps 26.05 comes preloaded on a micro SD card with standard adapter, ready for Plug & Navigate. This SD card can be used on most map capable Garmin handheld units and has been tested with latest Drive units as well.
The SD card also contains installation files for PC and Mac users who want to install the maps on their computers for trip planning or for transferring maps to older Garmin units such as the 276c, 76csx, previous generation eTrex, etc. We processed 339 data submissions for this version. These data submissions not only contribute more roads and POIs to the map, they also improve the quality of existing data through corrections. The overall road coverage has increased by 0.3% from version 25.10.

T4A GPS Maps is a highly detailed fully routable map of Africa for self-drive tourists as well as for overlanders who want to explore remote places in Africa. We also cater for the average outdoors person who enjoys hiking, fishing, birding, mountain biking and 4x4 trails. Key map statistics of version 26.05:

Detailed street coverage for Southern and Eastern Africa is included but street numbers are not available.
COVERAGE
The entire African continent is covered in high detail except for the less-travelled areas where information and track data is moderately detailed or where only overland routes and little infrastructure are available.
COMPATIBILITY
T4A GPS Maps are for compatible Garmin GPS units. The maps are NOT compatible with other GPS brands, Android or iOS devices, and will NOT work in iGO or vehicle built-in navigation systems (contact the relevant motor dealer for that manufacturer’s OEM upgrade availability).
